Kaolin also called China clay (Kaolin) is a naturally occurring whitish & soft clay substance that have developed from the chemical weathering of granite, an igneous feldspar rocks in hot, moist climates. China clay (Kaolin) is hydrated aluminum silicate having Al2O32SiO22H2O chemical formula.

Kaolin was first discovered in the mountainous province of Kiangsi, China in A.D. 500. The word “kaolin” derives from Chinese character ‘kao lin’ which means high ridge. It was first used by the Chinese to make high quality porcelain.

Washed or levigated China clay (Kaolin) is produce by levigation process. Raw China clay (Kaolin) is mixed with water to create milk shake like slurry. This slurry is passed through de-gritting, solid-liquid separation, Filtering & drying process & then it became water washed Chin clay (Kaolin).

At HRD, we manufacture different types of washed China clay (Kaolin) grades which are available in powder, granules cum powder & lumps form. These grades are used for different applications.

Fire clay is a range of refractory clays used in the manufacture of ceramics, especially fire brick. The United States Environmental Protection Agency defines fire clay very generally as a “mineral aggregate composed of hydrous silicates of aluminum (Al2O3·2SiO2·2H2O) with or without free silica.”

We usually process raw kaolin by high tech washing system to have Pure grade of china clay and removed impurities from the kaolin, this process is also called as levigation process. This levigation process helps to have common kaolin grade with balanced and better physical and chemical properties after removing impurities like silica, iron, titanium, etc. which make our product Pure and accurate
Hydrous kaolin is characterized by its fine particle size, high brightness and rheology. We developed fine and ultra-fine grades of Hydrous Kaolin’s from our best reserves for different industries including Paint, Paper, Printing Inks, Paper Board, Rubber, etc.
Calcined Kaolin is an anhydrous aluminum silicate produced by heating ultrafine natural kaolin to high temperatures in a kiln. The calcination process increases whiteness and hardness, improves electrical properties, and alters the size and shape of the kaolin particles.
